2022 Donor Celebration

People are the backbone of Sustainable Conservation’s success – our staff, board members, partners, and our community of supporters at all levels. As we celebrate Sustainable Conservation’s recent win with our Accelerating Restoration program, and our many exciting accomplishments of the past year, we will also celebrate YOU – the supporters who make this work possible.

As we share Sustainable Conservation’s impact that you make possible, we’ll hear from our featured speaker, California Natural Resources Agency Deputy Secretary for Biodiversity and Habitat, Jennifer Norris, on the importance of ecosystem restoration to advance biodiversity protection and climate adaptation in California and the key role Sustainable Conservation plays.

We hope you can join us for Sustainable Conservation’s Donor Celebration, which will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, November 9th from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Before the event’s programing, we will be hosting an optional happy hour at 6:00 – 6:30 PM where you can virtually mingle and share a toast with Sustainable Conservation Board members, staff, and fellow supporters.

A few seasonal ideas to fill your plate and glass:

Cocktails

In the mood for something sparkling? Try our autumn take on a French 75 created by Sustainable Conservation Creative and Communications Director Robyn Carliss.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz. sparkling wine (try an offering from our partner, Sonoma County’s renowned Iron Horse Vineyards)
  • 1 1/2 oz. Pink Lady apple-cranberry cordial (see recipe below)
  • 1 oz. gin
  • 1/4 oz. lemon juice
Preparation:

In a shaker tin, combine the apple-cranberry cordial, gin, and lemon juice. Shake with ice to chill and strain into a flute or other wine glass. Add sparkling wine. Stir to combine. Garnish with an apple slice or apple chip.

Pink Lady Apple-Cranberry Cordial:

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 c. peeled and diced Pink Lady apple
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp. unsweetened dried cranberries
Preparation:

Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until fruit fiber is incorporated and sugar is dissolved (mixture will be a lovely pink color). Strain through a sieve lined with cheesecloth or a nut milk bag. Yields ~1 c. cordial.

For a delicious (and food waste-mindful) cocktail garnish, coat your leftover apple peels in the purée leftover from straining your syrup. Bake on a parchment paper-lined sheet tray at 200℉ for two hours or so, and checking every 30 minutes, until crisp.
